Activity Summary 2009
The activity levels reached by Teyma in 2009 grew again, and this allowed the company to
continue to lead the construction market in Uruguay.
Throughout the year 2009, Teyma has achieved important goals, which have confirmed and
consolidated its execution capacity as well as its presence in all the important projects of the
country, among which the following are highlighted - The Sixth Pumping Line for
OSE /*1/, the 500 kV Power stations in Punta del Tigre and las Brujas, the Diesel-engine Power
Plant and the Frequency Converter Station in Melo for UTE /*2/, the Desulphurization Stations and
the Sulphur Recovery Unit for Ancap /*3/, and the completion of the Passenger Terminal of Colonia
Port for ANP. /*4/
As for Teyma Construcción’s activity, the following is highlighted:
In the area architecture works, the building Casas del Mar, currently in execution, and
the finalization of the works at Quay building, both located in Punta del Este. In Montevideo the
works at Asociacion Española and those corresponding to the three housing developments for
MVOTMA /5*/ continued, and the works at the Training Center of Agencia Española de
Cooperación were completed, as well as those of a rest home center in Buceo
neighbourhood. Moreover, in Colonia, the construction of the new passenger terminal of the Port of
same city was completed.
As for hydraulic works, we highlight the works corresponding to the Sixth Pumping Line as
well as those related to the construction of the new chlorination system of OSE water-purification
plant in Aguas Corrientes. We should also add the contract hiring of the Improvement of the
Drinking Water and Sewage System works in the city of Piura, Perú, to be executed in association
with Abengoa Perú.
In the area of electrical activity, the 500 kV Power stations in Punta del Tigre and las
Brujas, and the improvement works in the Distribution Network of Low Voltage and Medium
Voltage for UTE continue in progress. Last but not least, the execution of the Frequency Converter
Station in the city of Melo was contracted.
Within the industrial works, we highlight the initiation of the works related to the
construction of the Desulphurization Stations and the Sulphur Recovery Unit for Ancap, as well as
the works related to the Diesel-engine Power Plant for UTE, which are in their culmination
phase.
With reference to Teyma Internacional’s main activities, the following can be highlighted:
In the area of electrical generation through solar energy, the execution contract for the
civil works of the hybrid solar-gas power station in Morocco was completed, and the hybrid power
plant in Algeria is in progress.
Within the area of co-generation, the two power plants with a capacity of 70MW each, located
in Sao Joao and Sao Luiz – Brazil, in which Teyma Internacional participates through Abentey Ltda,
have had the expected progress and shall will be inaugurated in 2010.
Finally, as for bio-fuels, the execution works for the civil works in the Bio-ethanol plant in
Rotterdam - Holland were finalized.
Regarding Teyma España, the execution of the civil works contracts for the Solnova 1 and
Solnova 3 solar thermal power plants has been completed, and the works at Solnova 4 solar thermal
power plant continue in progress. Furthermore, the civil works related the project of a pilot plant
for the generation and supply of Hydrogen through solar energy ( Project Hidrogenera Hércules Las
Columnas) were initiated.
Through Teyma Medioambiente, and in particular through Consorcio Ambiental del Plata
(CAP) the following services continue to be provided - household waste collection, public roads
cleaning and transportation of material to its final destination within an area of 1.210 ha,
covering a population of 135.000 resident and 200.000 “floating” inhabitants.
Teyma Forestal has finished the year in full activity, after having faced an important
decrease in its harvest services pace due to the international crisis. As for biomass, the activity
is in full development, at its project- study phase, involving bio-mass supply for power
generation, and the corresponding power plants operation as well.
